[CODENAME: OUTFITTER]

An early concept for connecting people with outdoor and adventure equipment. I’m exploring the architecture alongside the legal, insurance, and responsibility questions that would shape whether it could work.

01

The question

How could more people access the equipment that makes an outdoor adventure possible?

Specialized gear can create a pretty substantial barrier before somebody ever gets out the door. I’m interested in whether connecting equipment owners with people who need access could open up more opportunities.

The interesting part is figuring out how to make that arrangement trustworthy for everyone involved.

02

The approach

I’ve started brainstorming the system and researching the practical constraints around it.

That means considering the people on both sides of an exchange, what information they would need, and how responsibility would be handled when equipment changes hands. Legal and insurance feasibility are central to that exploration.

Those answers need to influence the architecture from the beginning.

03

Where it stands

OUTFITTER is a concept. Early architecture work and feasibility research are underway, but there is no working marketplace or finalized operating model.

What stays with me

I’m drawn to ideas that give people access to experiences they might otherwise miss.

This one also gives me a good reason to slow down and investigate the parts that could make or break the whole thing. I want to understand the responsibilities before I build a shiny interface around them.
