Casto Liquidations
A resale venture built around purchasing business liquidation pallets and selling their contents individually. It gave me direct experience with a business model I eventually realized didn’t fit the kind of work I wanted to pursue.

The question
Could I build a business by finding value in products other businesses were liquidating?
Buying a pallet and figuring out what could be sold individually offered a tangible way to explore entrepreneurship. There was inventory in front of me and a straightforward opportunity to try making something of it.
The approach
I bought business liquidation pallets and resold the products individually.
That put me directly inside the relationship between what something costs to acquire, what it can sell for, and what value the buyer receives. Over time, I found myself thinking more about that last part.
Where it stands
Casto Liquidations is a completed chapter of my entrepreneurial work.
I moved away from the model as I became clearer about wanting my effort to contribute something I felt better about offering.
What stays with me
I became uncomfortable with the idea of buying inexpensive products and relying on a large markup to make the business worthwhile.
I’d often rather tell someone how to find the cheaper option. That realization helped me understand why work built around solving a problem or helping another person holds my attention much longer.
